Spring and Summer Wedding Cakes

It's been a while since I wrote my last post and I have been fairly busy... I'm job-hunting and it hasn't paid off yet unfortunately but I'm still hoping for the best.

Meanwhile I've also been busy making cakes as friends and family have been celebrating weddings all around and wanted me to do them the honour of creating unforgettable pieces for them on their special day. Challenges have been given and met and I'm proud to have presented these cakes to the brides and grooms.

Cake tasting

As a service to my clients I offer a cake tasting so the bride and groom can decide what they like both taste and design wise. Most take me up on this offer and it's a great way to figure out what flavour to put in the cake and how they want their cake to look, which colours to use and what kind of decorating they like.

I had a cake tasting this weekend and the couple had decided on a flavour, so I just had to come up with some different designs - they looked like this:

A tasty chocolate cake with a berry symphony mousse covered with white fondant and decorated with gum paste and fondant flowers.

The couple gave very good feedback and we're closer to settling on a design and decorations. I look forward to making their wedding cake for them to enjoy at their wedding celebration on the 5th of May this year.

December wedding cake

My dear friend Christina got married in December last year and had asked if I would make her a romantic and classic wedding cake with her favourite chocolate cake and raspberry filling covered with fondant and decorated with gum paste roses and flowers.

The cake was our gift to the lovely couple and they were blown away and very satisfied. We had the most wonderful time at the wedding party - it was a beautiful ceremony, traditional and elegant and the bride was incredible stunning! We had a great wedding weekend...

The photographer took this lovely photo of the cake:
